Volunteer marine search and rescue service. PARA is a registered charity, supported by the City of Pickering, the Region of Durham, and by corporate and individual donors. PARA operates the dedicated rescue vessel PARU in the waters of Lake Ontario off of Durham Region. The vessel is available for call-out 24-7 during the boating season (May long weekend to end of October). PARA is currently accepting volunteers; apply at para-rescue.org.
