The history of the Evangelical Missionary Church began in Switzerland in the sixteenth century, during the time of the Reformation, when the world’s first official Anabaptist Congregation (later known as Mennonites) was organized at Zurich, about 1525. The new group spread rapidly but the rapid growth was soon followed by severe persecution.
