Cottonwood Mansion

Cottonwood Mansion Museum is a red brick, 6,000 square foot Italianate style edifice built between 1865-70 by Willam J. Holmes, Jr., a local entrepreneur. Family members lived in the home until 1911 and for the next 80 years only the back portion of the home was used. A major restoration of the Mansion was undertaken in 1988 by Laurence G. Hamilton with the financial aid and sweat equity of many area residents. It is now operated as a living museum. It is four kms north of Selkirk, and 4.5 kms south of Highway #3 on Haldimand Road #53. Entrance is through the restored Holmes Office.
