James and Mary Wilson donated the land, 4367 12th Line, to the United Presbyterian Congregation of Essa June 26, 1858. But, according to a fact sheet posted at the cemetery, burials occurred for nearly 25 years before that date. Among those buried here were the area’s first Scottish settlers.
