St. Jude's Cemetery

edit this listing
Though the first Anglican church service to be held in Oakville occurred in 1829, St. Jude's Cemetery wasn't established until 1853, when under the incumbency of Reverend Robert Shanklin, five acres of land were purchased on the shore of Lake Ontario about one mile west from present-day downtown. A large rectory was built on the lake shore, and a cemetery was established on the northern portion of the property.
