Jones Feed Mills

edit this listing
In 1930, Earnest E. Jones and his wife bought a small feed mill on Alfred Street in Linwood. They hired two other people and began milling feed. In 1949, Earnest's son George and his wife Jean took over the mill. The mill grew to 25 employees and made feed for area farmers. July 30, 1971, the mill burned to the ground. With the help of neighbours and other area feed mills, the new mill could be re-opened by March 15, 1972.1984 saw another generation come to the mill, as George and Jean's son Jeff graduated from the University of Guelph and took over the mill. Due to increasing demand and a foresight to the coming demand for medication-free feed, Jeff and his wife Julie bought two more mills in 1998. The new Heidelberg facility was turned into an organic and medication free mill, and a store was built on the front and named Miller's Stone. The new Wroxeter facility was used for identity preserved or non-GMO feeds.
