Like all school buses, this one was yellow, but, instead of children, George Van Beek packed his bus with a soil mixture he had developed on his family’s farm. An ideal combination of topsoil, fibre and compost, George called it “Van Beek's Premium Original Mixed Soil” and he began to offer it to landscapers and gardeners in and around Oakville. The year was 1962, and the bus was a “cost effective” combination office and delivery truck for George’s new company – Van Beek’s Garden Supplies.
