Richard Break’s family members have been proud residents of the Ryde community of Gravenhurst, Ontario for many generations. Richard’s early education was in the two-room schoolhouse that is now the Ryde Community Centre. With a family background in farming Richard became interested in the environment and its sustainability early in life. This passion led him to create Port-A-MillTM Services, a mobile custom sawmilling service for trees of importance, including trees harvested from a customer’s own land or trees damaged by weather. As Port-A-Mill grew Richard began a new phase of his business, drying and storing lumber. He built a large wood storage facility and kiln and began offering his customers a variety of lumber choices for special projects near and dear to their hearts. Rece
