Midhurst Plaque / Midhust Pioneer Cairn

Erected to mark the first saw and grist mill on Willow Creek built about 1825. Also located here were four other mills, a soap factory, a distillery and two hydro plants, which supplied Barrie in 1888. Oliver's Mills, later renamed Midhurst, added a community hall in 1854, and a church in 1881. S.S. No. 6 dates from 1866. This bell is from a second building, used from 1887 until 1962.
