Located in a quaint spot between SunArt and VanGalis Café on St. Andrew Street East, The Essential Bakery creates gluten free baked goods that appeal to both the gluten free individual and glutenistas alike. With customers who drive from as far away as Toronto to buy her bread and cupcakes, Marcie Macari, owner and baker is a busy woman! Items on the menu rotate regularly, and in-store products sell out about 85% of the days, so the majority of sales come from orders pre-placed for pick-up, a few days in advance on the website’s online order system. Marcie is a Holistic Nutritionist, and creates all of her baked goods from scratch, without the use of pre-made mixes, unhealthy fillers or artificial colors or flavors.
